SUBSCRIBE to Coaches' Voice: https://bit.ly/2UCwkxX Having made a change to Wales’ formation at the start of a qualifying campaign in which his team was expected to struggle, Chris Coleman ended up leading Wales to the Euro 2016 semi finals in memorable fashion. Using a 3-4-2-1 formation that gave his side greater defensive security, Coleman freed up the mercurial talents of Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey, who played in the wide number 10 positions behind a lone striker. However, there was more to Coleman’s thinking than giving his two star players free roles: this new position meant they had less distance to travel to support attacks following an attacking transition, and it also helped Wales create overloads in central areas. In this exclusive masterclass with The Coaches’ Voice, Coleman explains how he got the best out of both Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey, and why his change in formation was so crucial to Wales’ success at Euro 2016.
