The Reality of 12ft Seas for 5 Days Straight | Fiji to Tahiti EP75

What is the reality of an ocean passage from Fiji to Tahiti? In this episode, we’re taking you along for a bumpy ride as we tackle one of our most challenging Pacific crossings yet! Sailing to French Polynesia is a dream, but Mother Nature made us earn our time in paradise. We were at sea for 10 days and this episode covers the last 5 of them. For three of those days, we battled relentless 12-15ft beaming seas that kept the boat constantly rolling. Standing was a challenge much less making food, eating or going to the bathroom. Just when we thought we had a rhythm, the weather shifted, throwing 6-8ft waves right on the nose. To keep the boat safe and the crew (mostly) sane, we had to pull back and slow our speed down to just 4 knots to make the ride comfortable. This video is a true, behind-the-scenes look at the realities of the cruising lifestyle. It’s not always flat, calm water and sunny anchorages—but working together to push through the tough weather makes the reward of arriving in Tahiti that much sweeter!
