This week’s episode is jam-packed with variety and excitement aboard our 41ft Nordhavn trawler yacht, Ruth Pearl. We depart from Newport, Rhode Island, and spend a few days cruising through the scenic Long Island Sound. Our first stop is the charming maritime town of Mystic, Connecticut, home of the famous Mystic Seaport Museum. From there, we continue west to the beautiful Thimble Islands near Branford, Connecticut, where we explore the unique rock islands and the incredible waterfront homes perched on them. With calm seas still a day away, we decide to circumnavigate Manhattan Island — one of the most unforgettable experiences of our journey. We pass under iconic landmarks like the Brooklyn Bridge, Manhattan Bridge, and George Washington Bridge, cruise along the East River, and take in breathtaking views of the New York City skyline, Statue of Liberty, and One World Trade Center. Once back in the Hudson River, it’s time to head south. We pass beneath the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge and exit New York Harbor for an all-night offshore passage to Cape May, New Jersey. Along the way, we experience a few patches of rough seas while transiting the New Jersey coastline, passing Atlantic City and entering Delaware Bay at sunrise.
