Going to Disney World in a Hurricane - the BEST Time to go to Disney (if it’s Open & Safe to do so)

We didn't plan to go to Disney World in a hurricane, but that's exactly what we did when we drove from North Carolina to Florida, with a stop at Hilton Head on the way. We had hurricane Franklin in the water, giving us a storm on the island on our way out, and then hurricane Idalia coming through Northern Florida. Luckily they did not close the parks, and we had the BEST time going to Disney World during the hurricane. Of course we are fully aware of the destruction the hurricanes can cause, and our hearts go out to everyone affected by these horrible destructive events. But if you're already planning to be in Disney when a hurricane happens to be hitting, and you are able to make it work safely, going to Disney in a hurricane may be the best time to go to Disney! Just bring a poncho, some comfy rain shoes, and be prepared to be wet. The sunset that comes after the storm though -- the best you'll see at Disney...
