Apple's iPhone 17e is launching in 2026 and some big changes are needed vs the 16e, to make it a worthy rival to Android mid-range smartphones. From replacing the dodgy display and basic camera setup to bringing back fan favourite features, here's how Apple makes the iPhone 17e one of the best 'affordable' phones around. And erases the big mistakes of the iPhone 16e. Considering it's still £600 in the UK, that e-series smartphone is still an insult. You're better off finding an old Apple flagship rather than spunking out on a new 16e, but the iPhone 17e could be so much better, even without a price drop. For one, Apple needs to give it a competitive camera setup. One measly lens, with zero telephoto option, is a joke, while the photography and video abilities were considerably more basic than many Androids. Likewise, the old 60Hz screen with ugly old-school notch and no always on display is a relic of the past. Stick with the compact size for iPhone 17e, but shrink the bezels and make it a 120Hz panel worthy of the price and all is forgiven, Apple. We also need some Magsafe charging, while some of the other specs were rather cheap given the not-budget price. What's your own wishlist for the iPhone 17e? Let us know below and stay tuned for the unboxing and review, where we'll discover that Apple's done none of this stuff! Who cares, it'll still get great reviews from media too scared to be blacklisted by Apple!
