Brave
I installed Brave for the first time and focused on setting it up the “right” way: stripping the clutter, disabling the wallet/AI/rewards extras, and letting Shields do the ad-blocking out of the box. It’s a solid mainstream option if you want privacy features built in, but you’ll get the best experience only after you clean it up.
Pros
- +Brave Shields blocks ads/trackers out of the box
- +Lots of UI and appearance settings to customize
- +Ongoing memory optimizations in newer versions
Cons
- -Feels cluttered and bloated out of the box (wallet, AI, VPN, rewards)
- -Used more RAM than Helium in my one-tab test
- -Some toolbar elements (like the Brave icon) can’t be removed
