Wazzzup, Carpies! In this vlog, I’m taking you with us on a super long 17-hour layover in Taiwan—landing around 6:00 a.m. and flying out at 11:00 p.m. We were running on basically no sleep, but we still pushed through because Taiwan makes layovers extra worth it. Danica booked us a FREE half-day tour in advance, so we lined up near the arrivals information area, got our tour IDs, and hopped on the bus to explore outside the airport. We visited a beautiful, super detailed temple area (grabe yung carvings—no nails on the ceiling, Chinese technique talaga), grabbed snacks like those “horn” breads (red bean vibe), and checked out a pottery/ceramics village-style stop. After the tour dropped us back at the airport, we used MRT/Apple Pay to head into the city—Taipei Main Station, then the red line to Taipei 101 for a quick food court lunch. Next, we went to Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall (must-visit to give respect), then ended our Taiwan day with food trip mode at the Shilin Night Market—yes, we tried stinky tofu and Hot-Star style fried chicken. Final pro tip: Taiwan airport has FREE showers (first come, first serve), perfect before a long flight to Seattle.
