Ovarian cancer can come back after treatment. This is called recurrent cancer. You and your loved ones may have questions about treatment options, monitoring and what to expect. An ovarian cancer recurrence can also leave you dealing with lots of different emotions. Everyone is different and there is no right way to feel. It could be about anything from how recurrent ovarian cancer is diagnosed, to treatment options and finding support. We also heard from a woman who has had a recurrence about her experience. About our Experts Professor Agnieszka Michael is a Consultant Medical Oncologist with a specialist interest in ovarian cancer and kidney cancer. She trained at St George’s Hospital, Royal Marsden Hospital and Guys and St Thomas’ Hospital. She was awarded a PhD for research in Cancer Immunotherapy by St George's, University of London, and continues to contribute to this field of research. Professor Michael is also a Clinical Lead for National Ovarian Cancer Audit, as well as a Chair of Non-surgical Oncology in British Gynaecological Cancer Society. Valerie Lang is one of Target Ovarian Cancer’s Specialist Nurses. With a career dedicated to women’s health, she has extensive expertise within gynaecology and sexual health. She's an experienced Gynae-oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) supporting women with gynaecological cancers from diagnosis right through treatment, including surgery and chemotherapy. Valerie has worked at Target Ovarian Cancer, supporting those affected by ovarian cancer on our support line, since 2018. She also runs our bi-weekly Tea and Chat sessions for those with a diagnosis.
