The Alcatraz tour was eye-opening, educational, and a little heavy as I learned about the harsh realities prisoners endured. It was truly a moving experience. But let’s talk about the real prison… the fly-infested boat ride over to Alcatraz! I’ve never seen so many flies in my life — there were fans onboard just to swat them away. Totally disgusting but definitely memorable! After the Alcatraz tour, I headed down to Pier 39, one of the most iconic San Francisco spots. Between the amazing eateries, unique shops, delicious bakeries, and of course the famous sea lions, Pier 39 felt like a giant carnival by the bay.
