In this camping video, we went to Halfway Lake Provincial Park and camped on site 79 in the Wild Rose Campground. Over half the sites offer electrical service in two campgrounds on the north shore of Halfway Lake. Backcountry Camping 1. The Experience: Located at the southern edge of the Boreal Forest, Halfway Lake Provincial Park covers the rugged terrain of the Canadian Shield. The park offers two canoe routes and one long-distance hiking trail. This park is ideal for beginner backcountry visitors. Antrim Lake is on the northeast side of the park and offers spectacular scenery and wildlife viewing opportunities. There is one campsites along the shore with access to secluded sandy beaches for picnicking and swimming. Bailey Lake is in the southern section of the park and is accessible by portage from Halfway Lake. This area offers clear water and quiet paddling where you can see nesting bald eagles, osprey, and a great blue heron rookery. The 15 km Hawk Ridge Trail has three campsites that provide an excellent backcountry hiking experience. There are many wonderful photo opportunities from the spectacular vistas of Lost Lake, Three Island Lake, and Crystal Lake. Most backcountry campsites have a box privy.
