In this video I show you my Carbon Purification working model for factories and industries—an Inspire Award type science project idea that focuses on saving the environment. I explain what carbon purification means in a simple school-level way: using activated carbon (charcoal) to clean air or water by removing bad smell, colour, and harmful chemicals. I also share the main principle behind it—ADSORPTION—because in carbon purification the dirt and chemicals stick on the carbon surface instead of dissolving inside it. I break down adsorption vs absorption with an easy comparison so students can write it confidently in their project file. Then I explain how the filtration works step-by-step: dirty water (or polluted air conceptually) passes through the activated carbon layer, and pollutants like chlorine, organic chemicals, odour, and colours get trapped in the tiny pores of carbon due to its large surface area. Finally, I cover real-life uses like drinking water filters, air purifiers, aquariums, swimming pools, and industrial wastewater treatment, along with advantages (low cost, easy, eco-friendly) and limitations (doesn’t fully kill bacteria/viruses, can’t remove salt, carbon needs replacement).
