Tough Spine, Tougher Spirit

Scoliosis is a condition that typically occurs in adolescents 10-18 years old, affecting as many as 2 to 3 percent of the population. It can also affect younger children, like Alice Sparks, in infancy. Dr. Barsi and the experts at Stony Brook Children’s have been with Alice since the beginning and most recently performed a Vertebral Body Tethering procedure – the first of its kind on Long Island – to improve Alice’s continuing growth and overall quality of life.
