Life advice, surfboard design and even a sneaky peak at his next board release...I caught up with Rob Machado whilst he was shaping in Australia for a chat in the shaping bay! When it comes to surfing legends, Rob Machado is certainly up there with the best of them - the laid back, style guru not only made his prescence felt on tour (who could forget the infamous high five with Kelly Slater?!) but since carving out a career as a freesurfer he's now one of the main shapers for Firewire surfboards. It's safe to say the mans been around and has quite a few stories to tell! So when I got the chance to chat with Rob on his recent visit to Australia, were he was also doing some hand shaped boards I was stoked when he agreed to mic up and let me interview him in the shaping bay whilst crafting me a new custom Too Fish.
