Blackstone has been buying single family homes in order to lease out and profit from the rental income in order to satisfy investors. Blackstone Inc. is an investment management company based in New York City. Blackstone's private equity business has been one of the largest investors in leveraged buyouts in the last three decades, while its real estate business has actively acquired commercial real estate and single family homes prior to branching off into Invitation Homes for their home buying funds. As of 2021, the company's total assets under management were approximately $880 Billion. Invitation Homes as of 2017 was reportedly the largest owner of single-family rental homes in the United States. As of September 2020, the company owned about 80,000 rental homes in 16 markets. Institutional home buyer investors have had a negative impact outbidding primary home buyers for the last several years. Don’t be fooled. Institutional home buyer investors do take on debt and in many cases, the debt is floating or adjusting. Which means if these institutional home buyer investors do not get the necessary yields from real estate, I believe they will begin to sell off thus flooding the US Housing market. Time will tell….
