Of course, your goals will vary a bit based on what you want to do, but I would argue that there are a few things that trainers should try to do every year, or every other year at the very least, regardless of their long term plans. Some of the things that I think all trainers should do every year, or every other year, depending on their circumstances are: 1. Make a plan (short and long term) 2. Go to a personal training conference 3. Do an online continuing education course 4. Take a vacation (helps to prevent the dreaded personal trainer burnout) 5.
