What’s going on guys—in this video I’m showing you my updated 2023 workflow for making a remix in Logic Pro X. I start from zero: grab a song, extract the vocals, figure out the tempo and key, and then get everything lined up properly in Logic so you’re not fighting the grid. I use vocalremover.org to separate vocals/instrumental and to quickly read tempo/key, then I bring the files into Logic, transpose a few semitones (also helps avoid copyright issues), and lock the downbeat so the vocal sits right on the one. From there, I show you how I make the remix feel like YOUR record: flex/time-stretch the vocal to a new tempo, EQ it so it sits clean, and build the “melodic backbone” with chords (I pull chord info online, then adjust it to match my transposition). After that it’s drums, pads, movement, and arrangement—using my Soniq Sounds kits, Logic instruments like Alchemy, and Step FX to get that bounce and motion. I also bring in Splice loops, show you how Logic warps them to your project tempo, and even do quick vocal chops so you can flip the original performance into something brand new.
