About This Video

Today I tested two iconic Estée Lauder foundations side-by-side on real 40+ skin to see what’s actually worth your money—especially now that Double Wear has been reformulated. Double Wear has been that full coverage, longwear legend since 1997, and the new version is supposed to feel lighter and move with the skin (with added skincare ingredients like hyaluronic acid and niacinamides). So I applied it on one side of my face in shade 2N2 Buff and paid close attention to the big fear we all have with matte foundations: is it going to dry down and show every pore, crease, and little nook and cranny? On me, it didn’t. It blended evenly, felt super lightweight, and gave me beautiful, buildable coverage. On the other side, I tried the Re-Nutriv Ultra Radiance Serum Creme Makeup in 2W1 Dawn, which is very much “skincare meets makeup.” It’s glowy, radiant, and more natural with lighter coverage—but you only need a tiny amount (I literally just tapped the lid). After wearing both for a few hours, neither side felt heavy, and everything still looked smooth without separating. My takeaway: if you’re oily, Double Wear is the safer bet; if you’re combo like me (or even a little dry), that radiant serum cream might become your best friend.
