I show you what Emergent is (an AI app builder where you describe your app in plain English) and what it generates: not just a front end, but the backend, database, auth, API routes, and deployment. I also walk through what it feels like to use day-to-day: you prompt, it asks solid clarifying questions, then you watch the agents build everything step-by-step with a live preview. What impressed me most is the stuff that saves real development time: Emergent runs automated tests (API, auth flow checks, etc.) and includes a visual QA system that screenshots what it built, compares it to your prompt, flags mismatches, and sometimes fixes them automatically. That’s a meaningful step forward compared to tools like Lovable/Bolt/Replit that typically just hand you the output. But I’m also blunt about the downsides. The UI quality is noticeably weaker and often looks plain unless you put in extra work (and even detailed design prompts can disappoint). The credit system is the other big issue—credits get burned for every action, debugging can drain your balance, and hosting alone costs 50 credits/month on the $20 plan. My takeaway: Emergent is great for functional full-stack builds and validation, but it’s not ideal if you need polished UI or you plan to iterate heavily on a tight budget.
