I finally put this DIY sawmill to the test — a homemade setup built from scrap metal, a lawnmower engine, and a chainsaw bar — to see if I could mill my own lumber for our homestead. What started as a plan to make siding for our off-grid washroom quickly turned into something else entirely. In true homestead fashion, I pivoted mid-project and built some very useful things out of the lumber from the sawmill. 👇 MY RESOURECES 👇 Tiny Home Building Plans - https://stan.store/thisiswildhomestead/p/tiny-home-plans Off-grid Bathroom Plans - https://stan.store/thisiswildhomestead/p/offgrid-bathroom-plans FREE Emergency Kit E-Book - https://stan.store/thisiswildhomestead/p/free-emergency-ebook Ultimate Guide to Starting your Homestead - https://stan.store/thisiswildhomestead/p/ultimate-guide-to-starting-your-homestead Chapters: 0:00 - Testing the DIY sawmill 0:50 - How the sawmill was built 1:15 - First cuts and setup 2:00 - Milling the first boards 3:40 - Realizing how long it takes 4:45 - Pivoting the project plan 5:50 - Fixing the tiny home steps 6:15 - Next day: finishing the stairs 7:00 - New idea for the giant beam 8:40 - Building the container staircase 9:45 - Final thoughts and lessons learned 10:30 - What’s next on the homestead
