I think these are the must have 4 jigs for any workshop and the bonus is it comes from 1 sheet of plywood. The first jig I made was the cross cut sled. I kept this jig simple as I want it to be able to carry out the basic function of cross cutting material on the table saw. I did cut in some grooves for T-Track and with the hold down clamps I made I can hold down smaller pieces. I also put some t-track in the back fence so I can have a stop block. The picture jig was up next and this was taken from woodworking for mere mortals. It’s a fantastic jig and I have since added a fence to the jig allowing me to cut pieces with a stop block longer then the board. This jig has surprised me with how useful it has been. The tapering and straightening jig is not a jig I will use often but one I will be glad to have when I need it. At times working with rough timber having this jig will mean I can easily cut one straight edge. The spline jig was the last of the 4 jigs and perfect for reinforcing mitred joints. Making mitre joints strong is a must and the perfect friend to the picture frame jig. A rule of the Small fry Workshop is everything must have a home so before I designed the jigs I designed the storage cupboard to fit under the table saw. From there I designed the jigs to fit in the cupboard. The maker community was issued a challenge from Vic from Downunder Woodworks to make something out of timber that reminds us of Summer. For me that is all about adding to the workshop to improve my efficiency.
