This week I made an outdoor bench. Most of the bench is made from reclaim fence pailings that were found on the side of the road. This is a easy weekend project and a great way to dress up the front porch or back deck. --------------------------------------------------------- Happy building and if you like to stay up to date with what I'm currently working on be sure to follow me on social. They were covered in green paint so I had no idea what they would be like but wanted to give them a go. I got them home and de nailed each piece. I started the project by cutting the pieces at the miter saw making sure to get rid of any bad spots. I could then get them square at the table saw before running them through the planer. The planer was the part I was most excited about as it's where I would see what I had to work with. I was surprised at how great the timber was and the wonderful colours in the timber that was under the green paint. My next step was to glue them up into panels. I went with two panels with the lower one being not as wide but can hold shoes or magazines. I made the legs from some dress pine and painted them matt black so it would make the timber pop a little more. When the panels were dried I could run them through the planer again to get them flat. I planed them to where they were just flat as I didn't want to get them to thin. My last step was to apply some decking oil to the timber and then screw the boards into place. I'm super happy with how the project turned out and smile every time I drive in to the driveway. I hope you like this project and if you have any questions please hit me up in the comments and I will try my best to help.
