This week is all about a DIY smart Lightbox to turn the workshop into more of a studio. Using a Phillips hue light strip and some 18mm plywood I built a lightbox. It was a good time to use my cricut cutting machine to cut the vinyl sign out. For the mounting onto the wall I used a keyhole router bit which allows a screw to slide in and lock. The Phillips hue lighting is smart and linked to my Apple home kit means I can use the phrase “I’m creating” and the light will turn red letting everyone in the house know I’m working and to not come into the workshop. More then just telling people I may be talking to camera it works as a safe light as well. People know I may be using power tools and to wait until I’m done before entering.
