The Audeze LCD S20 is a $500 closed-back planar that’s built like a tank, with strong isolation and an easy-to-drive 18 ohm load. For my taste it wasn’t very lively or exciting (especially for gaming), but I can see it making sense as a studio/reference-style headphone—possibly with a little EQ depending on what you’re hearing.
Pros
+Excellent, robust build for the price (magnesium/aluminum/steel)
+Good isolation for a closed-back
+Easy to drive across dongles and amps
+Comfortable fit with reasonable clamp and good cup tilt/swivel
+Magnetic pads make pad swaps easy
Cons
-Not very lively or engaging to my ears
-2–3k region can sound a bit “off” (noticed on my vocals)
