In this episode, I’m starting at the beginning of the SCAR near where I-26 and I-95 cross in the South Carolina low country, working my way into the Sandhills region. This is the first trip in a series where I’ll be running the entire SCAR over multiple weekends — exploring what this trail has to offer and sharing what I learn along the way to help you plan your own adventure. The SCAR may not be the most extreme overland route out there, but it has a way of surprising you — with changing terrain, quiet trails, and history that runs deeper than you might expect. And for me, this route is personal. Because it runs right through my own backyard. --- 📍 ROUTE INFO (Segment 1) • Start: Near I-26 & I-95 (Lowcountry, SC) • Region: Sandhills • Terrain: Sand, dirt, gravel, and pavement • Conditions: Easy when dry, but sand can get deep and loose — and slick when wet --- 🎬 SERIES INFO This is Episode 1 of my full SCAR series. The goal is to complete the entire route over several weekends, and then: • Create a full cinematic SCAR film • Share a complete SCAR planning guide --- 🙏 REFLECTION Sometimes we spend so much time looking for adventure somewhere else… that we forget to explore what’s right in front of us. --- 👍 If you enjoyed the video, consider liking and subscribing to follow the rest of the SCAR series. --- #Overlanding #SCAR #SouthCarolina #AdventureRoute #OverlandLife #OffRoad #JeepLife #Backroads #ExploreMore See all the camera, Jeep and camping gear I use: https://www.amazon.com/shop/simplymustgo Music licensed by Soundstripe: https://soundstripe.grsm.io/MattBrodie Disclaimer: Some of the links above are affiliate links, where I earn a small commission if you purchase an item. About This Video

In this first episode of my South Carolina Adventure Route (SCAR) series, I’m kicking things off right near where I-26 and I-95 cross in the Lowcountry and working my way toward the Sandhills. SCAR is a 1,200-mile loop that circles the whole state, stitching together forests, farmland, small towns, and little pockets of history most folks blow right past. This segment isn’t about rock-crawling or anything extreme—it's about getting out there, letting the trail slow you down, and seeing what South Carolina looks like when the noise fades out. I talk through what the terrain is like on this part of the route—sand, dirt, gravel, and some pavement—and why conditions can change fast depending on whether it’s dry or wet. The big takeaway is simple: you don’t always have to chase adventure across the country to find it. For me, SCAR is personal because it runs through my own backyard, and over the next few weekends I’ll be piecing together the full loop, then turning it into a cinematic film and a planning guide so you can run it too.
