But the modern life is designed to take our ability to focus away from us; we're constantly getting breaking news, new emails and notifications from social media. To make things worse, we now have unlimited entertainment at our fingertips where we can watch movies or play a game whenever and wherever we like. Consequently, we became prone to boredom. Whenever we feel bored, we seek novel stimuli such as social media to break the boredom. This in turn creates Pavlovian conditioning where boredom means stimuli. With this conditioning, we struggle to focus when we actually have to focus on something hard. So, how do we break the conditioning?
