About This Video

I just received a massive shipment of 1,000 Caridina shrimp from Singapore, sent over by KW Shrimps (Kelvin Wong) — easily one of the most impressive breeders I’ve met. In this video I unbox bag after bag and show you exactly what’s inside: Red Devil Orange Eye Black Beans (highest grade, deep red), Red Zebra Stardust (the budget-friendly zebra-pattern version), 250 Ocean Blues, 250 Red Fancy Tigers, and a batch of “low grade” Wicked Stardust and Boa that honestly look fantastic to me. I talk through why I’m not drip acclimating (matching pH/TDS and the same soil setup), and I temperature acclimate in acrylic boxes before making it rain into freshly cycled, properly tested tanks. I also show you how I run my tanks KW-style: UGF with thick sponge for extra bacteria surface area, active soil on top, sponge filters, and loads of moss instead of hardscape “hides” — babies and berried females love it. I explain my approach to testing new tanks with cheap test shrimp first, why I prefer green walls and biofilm over dumping in commercial food, and how I use a separation net to isolate “ugly males” or prep shrimp for shipping while keeping them safe even with fish. After a few days I’m feeding everyone, checking colour-up, and I’m already seeing berried females — which is exactly what I want to see from hardy, prolific lines.
