That was exactly our experience during our latest butcher run here at Sheraton Park Farms. We start the day by reviewing our pig loading infrastructure, but things quickly go sideways. We have a stubborn hog who absolutely refuses to get on the trailer. Saundra and Chuck have to break out the homemade "pig boards" to outmaneuver the animal and safely secure it for transport. But the stress was just getting started. On the way down the road, we suffer a frustrating trailer breakdown, leading to an exhausting and stressful encounter at the local repair shop. Once we're rolling again, we stop by Rocky Ridge Heritage Hogs to pick up a retired sow for the butcher market. While there, we chat with the owner, Melissa, about her incredible heritage breeding operation and showcase some beautiful pigs she has available! After finally making it through a grueling butcher drop-off, we thought the chaos was behind us. But the universe had one more twist in store. The night before this crazy day, Chuck and Saundra drove up on a major car accident at a dark highway intersection. But while trying to safely pull one of the drivers from the vehicle, their frightened lap dog bit Saundra directly on the hand.
