We take a look at an AMD Ryzen 4x 2.5GbE machine with features straddling the line between virtualization, firewall, router, and desktop. We ran the AMD Ryzen 7 5825U 8 core/ 16 thread machine through OPNsense, pfSense, Proxmox VE, Ubuntu, and Windows 11 to see if it was better at the router/ firewall, virtualization server, or desktop use cases. In the end, we learned a lot about this funky machine, but perhaps not what role it is best suited for with its 4x Intel i226-V NICs.
