Margaret River Day 1 started with Lu’s “30s wish” and us chasing sunset at Surfers Point in Prevelly — and honestly, the weather went full dramatic. It was super windy, raining, my camera lens kept getting spotty, and I genuinely felt like I’d gone for a swim… but the view was so, so beautiful. Then it happened: a double rainbow that looked crazy close, like a perfect rainbow right in front of us. We were half laughing, half panicking like “are we about to die?” and then just stood there taking photos because it was too unreal to leave. After we survived the wet rocks (Aussie version of slipping on ice in Korea, seriously), we headed into town for Italian dinner at La Scarpetta Trattoria to celebrate Lu turning 30. We ordered toasted sourdough with ricotta, pasta (linguini ragu for me, ravioli for Lu), and of course a glass of wine… then another glass each. The night ended back at the resort with us trying to see the sky properly — going darker and darker — and finishing Day 1 with the Milky Way above Margaret River. Cozy, chaotic, and kind of perfect.
