Buying a car in the US is a frustrating experience thanks to franchise laws that limit the consumer's right to choose how they can buy a car. Car dealerships have all the power, including power over the car manufacturers, giving them the freedom (and right) to rip customers off. While companies like Tesla have strived to resolve this with a direct sales mode, although better, it's still flawed as customer reach and service is limited. The only solution is for there to be a free market, where manufacturers and third-party retailers can both sell and service vehicles with consumers choosing the process they prefer.
