In this video, I break down why everyone arguing “which is better” is missing the actual problem hiding in the data: the 90% problem. Lovable gets you almost done fast… and then the wheels come off. I dug through the patterns founders keep reporting—bug loops where one fix breaks something else, Stripe integrations falling apart, and credits draining while the AI spins in circles repairing what it just broke. The bigger issue is structural: the MVP code that launches becomes a mess you can’t scale, and multiple devs said it was faster to fully rebuild in Claude Code than migrate a Lovable project. Emotional damage. My verdict is simple: Lovable isn’t really competing with Claude Code. Lovable is the prototype machine. Claude Code is where prototypes go to become products. If you need something working by tomorrow and you’ve never written code, Lovable can be genuinely excellent. If you need to maintain it longer than a sprint, integrate real payments, or debug anything that matters, that “free tier” can cost you more than Claude Code’s learning curve ever will.
