About This Video

Welcome back inside our 40-ft shipping container workshop build—aka “the box.” This week was all about buttoning up the loose ends so we can (hopefully) get the 4x4 CNC assembled and running next week. First order of business: picking up the wife unit from the airport. Then it was straight into turning two tiny office spaces from bare steel into something we can actually work in—insulated floors, OSB down, and a plan for lights and electrical so it’s not a cave in here. We insulated both office floors with 1.5" of XPS (which we had to make by stacking 1" + 1/2" because apparently 1.5" doesn’t exist in North Carolina). I foamed every little gap to avoid condensation issues, then topped it with OSB and finally flooring. Ava went full “shiplap she shed” with faux shiplap on the walls and ceiling (yes, I made fun of it the entire time), painted it embroidery rose and white, and it’s annoyingly cozy. To keep CNC dust out of the office, I also installed a cheap solid-core pre-hung door between the workshop and office—my first time hanging one, and it was shockingly painless. I started laying out the electrical too, because I’m still committed to my fortress of EMT conduit. Next week: CNC time, assuming FedEx stops pretending they can’t find us.
