Yottamaster Y7000 Pro SSD: https://amzn.to/4iffFa6 Today we’re taking a look at the Yottamaster Y7000 Pro NVMe PCIexpress 4.0 solid state drive. Thanks to Yottamaster for sending this over for us to take a look at. The Y7000 Pro SSD is a solid performing NVME SSD for gamers and high end PCs and even P5’s. The Y7000 includes an M.2 screw and a screwdriver as well as some thermal pads and a small heatsink which is a nice add-on in my opinion. If your motherboard doesn't have a heatsink, you’re saving some money and time since they include this. The Y7000 drive is based on QLC NAND but it features an SLC cache which combined with the controller and firmware really help speed up reads and writes as well as givinging the write endurance a boost. In terms of the rated read and write performance, Yottamaster has the Y7000 Pro at 7,000 megabytes per second sequential read speeds and 6,500 megabytes per second sequential write speeds. We’re getting an endurance rating of 600 terabytes written which is good for modern QLC drives. This level of endurance will ensure the SSD will definitely outlive your computer or PS5. The Y7000pro carries a YYY year warranty as well which is what I like to see. Specs wise versus the cost of this drive, I think this drive is a strong performer and a solid value if you need performance without breaking the bank. Of course, I tested the SSD in Crystal Disk Mark 8 in order to get a better idea of real world performance. For the testing scenarios, Windows 11 is installed on the SSD and CrystalDiskMark is running off of that installation. I ran three test scenarios, relatively empty, about 53% storage utilization, and just over 80% storage utilization to get an idea of the performance after you’re all settled in and have your games, programs, and files all on the drive. The relatively empty test run saw about 7,200 megabytes per second sequential read and 6,000 megabytes per second sequential write which is quite good for a QLC drive. Running this benchmark again at 53% storage utilization, the drive achieved about 7,200 megabytes per second sequential read and just a touch under 5,900 megabytes per second sequential write. As for the last test, 80% storage utilization, again, I saw about 7,200 megabytes sequential read and around 5,900 megabytes sequential write again. This is definitely some really solid performance even as the drive began filling up. That's super important because you don't want your PC or PS5 to slow down as you use it more, so I'm glad the drive performed well in all tests.
