YottaMaster Y3000 NVMe SSD: https://amzn.to/4jPlIDZ Today we’re taking a look at the Yottamaster Y3000 NVMe PCIexpress 3.0 solid state drive. Thanks to Yottamaster for sending this over for us to take a look at. The Y3000 SSD is a solid mid range NVME SSD for gamers and regular PC users who need some fast storage without breaking the bank on the budget. The Y3000 includes an M.2 screw and screwdrivers as well as some thermal pads and a small heatsink which is a nice add-on. The Y3000 drive is based on QLC NAND with an SLC cache to help speed up writes and help with endurance. This drive is rated for up to 3,100 megabytes per second read speed and up to 1,900 megabytes per second write speeds. We’re getting an endurance rating of 300 terabytes written which seems standard for modern QLC without HMB. The Y3000 carries a 5 year warranty as well which is what I like to see. Specs wise versus the cost of this drive, I think we’re in good shape for a value SSD pick here. Of course, I tested the SSD in Crystal Disk Mark 8 in order to get a better idea of real world performance. Windows is installed on the SSD where the testing will actually take place. I ran three test scenarios, relatively empty, about 55% storage utilization, and just over 80% storage utilization to get an idea of the performance after you’re all settled in and have your games, programs, and files all on the drive. The relatively empty test run saw about 3,400 megabytes per second sequential read and 2,400 megabytes per second sequential write which is actually quite good and a little better than advertised. Running this benchmark again at 55% storage utilization, the drive achieved about 3,400 megabytes per second sequential read and just a touch under 2,400 megabytes per second sequential write. As for the last test, 83% storage utilization, again, I saw about 3,400 megabytes sequential read and 2,400 megabytes sequential write. This is definitely some solid performance even as the drive began filling up. The SLC caching and firmware on this drive are doing a good job of maintaining performance. At the time I made this video, the drive was going for about $50 bucks on Amazon which I think is a decent price considering it didn’t appear to be on sale at all. This is a good contender in my opinion for budget builds or inexpensive system or laptop upgrades. If you got anything out of this video, smash that like button for the algorithm.
