Orico IG740 Pro NVMe SSD: https://amzn.to/3XoT2bA Limited Time 25% Promo Code: IG7404SAM Today we're taking a look at the Orico IG740 Pro NVMe SSD. Thanks to Orico for sending this one over for us to take a look at. The IG740 Pro is a PCIe 4.0 NVMe drive with some excellent rated performance, this drive is one of the higher end models that Orico is selling. Orico markets this drive as being able to achieve up to 6500 megabytes per second sequential write speeds and up to 7,450 megabytes per second sequential read speeds with more IOPS than you can shake a stick at. This drive is utilizing TLC NAND with an SLC cache and it makes use of HMB or host memory buffer technology. The SLC cache is crazy fast and that HMB tech really makes the difference for maintaining performance for this drive even as the drive fills up. In addition to lightning fast read and write speeds, the 2 terabyte version that I have here today is rated at an awesome 1200 terabytes written in terms of endurance. Endurance is an important factor you want to keep in the back of your head when you are buying SSDs, eventually all SSDs will wear out, but at 1200tbw in terms of write endurance, this really durable drive will probably outlast your PC or your PS5 by 2 or 3, maybe ever 4x over. This is really a quality drive setup in my opinion. Orico includes an optional set of a thermal pad and basic heatsink with a 3mil screwdriver which is a nice touch. Not everyone has a motherboard with NVMe heatsink so I like to see this included adding more value. Interestingly enough, this drive also features some power-loss protection, kinda neat for a drive at this price point. As for my testing of this drive, I set this drive up as the main operating system drive in my Ryzen 9700x RTX 4070 Super test bench PC then ran some basic file copy tests and of course CrystalDiskMark8.
