Acer FA200 2TB SSD: https://amzn.to/4gccXRw Today we’re taking a look at the Acer FA200 NVMe PCI express Gen4 2 terrabyte SSD. Thanks to Acer for sending this over for us to take a look at. The FA200 series of SSDs is rated for up to 7200Mbs and comes in 1, 2, and 4 terabyte capacities. This is certainly one of the fastest rated QLC based drives that I have looked at so far so that was interesting. These drives use an SLC cache combined with HMB or host memory buffer to really amp up the overall performance and endurance. I set this drive up in my Ryzen 9700X RTX 4070 Super gaming PC on my test bench. With the Operating System installed on the FA200, I ran CrystalDiskMark8 to get an idea of read and write performance with a clean empty windows install but we all know drives tend to slow down as they fill up. I reran the testing at 51% and 80% storage utilization to look at what kind of speed penalty that caused. With the drive relatively empty, I saw about 7,200mb/s sequential read speed which is excellent and sequential write speeds of just over 6,200mb/s, also excellent. Filling the drive up to 51% saw no change in read speed and a very small drop in write speed, 6,050ish megabytes per second vs 6200 empty. That’s super good performance in my opinion, barely noticeable when you have all your games and applications installed. Running this benchmark again at 80% utilization, the drive saw 7,200mb/s read and just over 5900mb/s write, which is really good performance, especially when you consider this is a QLC drive that's 80% full. The SLC cache and HMB are really doing some heavy lifting here making this a very fast and reasonably priced NVME SSD. The 2tb version of this drive which is what I have here is rated for 1000 terabytes written which is a really solid endurance rating to go along with the 5 year long warranty.
