Think of it as a little bit of an upgraded power outlet multiplier, in this case, upgraded a lot. If you are building a homelab or you need to build out a closet for an SMB, you’re going to need power connections. All the servers, onesie twosie power injectors, ac powered fans or cooling, and networking equipment all needs power. In my rack I have these older non-intelligent PDUs that are basically just port multipliers. They work but when you look at something like the ECP106 from Engenius, this product gives you the ability to see the power consumption per port in real time and you can cycle the power ports too.
