Silverstone DA (Decathlon) 650 Watt Power Supply: https://amzn.to/3PuShXo Today we’re taking a look at the Silverstone DA650 gold rated power courtesy of Silverstone. I reached out to Silverstone to send over a few parts so I could build an intel 12th gen RTX based gaming PC to review. The DA or Decathlon series PSUs from Silverstone range from 550w, 650w, 750w, 850w, and an incredible 1650w. The DA series power supplies all carry a 3 year warranty, are all modular, and feature tight voltage regulation as well as low ripple. As for this DA650, typically it’s quite efficient staying between 87% to 90% efficiency during power loads ranging from 20% to 100% according to Silverstone. In terms of the cooling, there's a 120mm FDB fan built into the power supply. At the lowest speed this fan is only making 18dba worth of noise. The PSU will spin the fan up or down depending on the temperature and load to keep the internal components running cool. The DA650 is a single rail based PSU meaning there is no need to to balance power connections between multiple rails to keep the power supply optimally loaded. All of the standard power protections are in place here, over current protection, over power protection, over voltage protection, short circuit protection and of course over temperature protection. The DA650 also features flat black power cables for all of the modular connections. I really liked this aspect of the power supply, it gives you a more premium feel and the cables are going to look good in almost every build without needing to buy extension cables. There's a good assortment of cables included including two 8 pin EPS cables and three total PCIe cables. This should be more than enough for any mid ranged gaming build. In terms of the physical spec for the power supply itself, the da650 weighs in at 3.13lbs and measures in at 150mm wide by 86mm high, by 140mm deep. I didn’t have any trouble at all getting this power supply installed in the Fara R1 V2 case I tested the system in. As for the specs of the test system, This is an i5-12600k with a z690 ddr4 gaming x board from gigabyte. I’m running an EGVA RTX 3060 12gb gpu. The CPU is being cooled by the PF240-ARGB watercooler from Silverstone with the LGA 1700 mounting kit. Running this system through the paces gaming, benchmarking, and some productivity tests both stock and overclocked were no issue for the DA650. I liked the DA650 and it did well for this build. I was also impressed by the lower than average weight for this unit, I haven’t seen many PSUs under 4lbs. If you're in the market for a quality 650w PSU for a gaming rig or workstation, the DA650 is a solid choice. 🔥 Cool Stuff on Amazon: https://amzn.to/3B6Gqru 🔥🔥 Looking for parts?
