Inateck Drive Dock: https://amzn.to/42effc7 Today we’re taking a look at the Inateck RGB SATA docking station. Inateck sent this over for testing and review. The docking station features support for both 3.5inch and 2.5 inch hard drives as well as sata solid state drives. Hard drive docking stations are usually kind of dull looking and take up space on your desk or workbench so when Inateck contacted me with this docking station, I really liked how it had a sleek look with a nicer outer plastic housing, status LEDs that made sense and were bright enough, and of course, the RGB illumination along the bottom of the docking station. This docking station supports offline or PC-less drive cloning which is a nice feature. After inserting the main drive to copy from into the A slot then the target drive to copy to into the B slot, you can hold the clone button for 3 seconds to start the clone process. There’s status indicators to mark the 25, 50, 75, and 100% completion stages which is very handy. I ran through an offline clone while I was testing, the process was simple and worked well. This docking station does require its own power, it comes with a standard 110v power adapter. The dock supports transfers over 5gbps USB 3.0 connection which allows for good speeds with SATA SSDs. In my testing, I tested a 1TB hard drive and a 250GB SATA SSD in CrystalDiskMark on this docking station. The hard drive topped out at about 145 megabytes per second read and about 140 megabytes per second writes. The Samsung EVO 850 SSD topped out around 470 megabytes per second read and about 460 megabytes per second write. These speeds are quite good for going through the docking station so I was happy with those results. The bottom of the docking station does have feet to help keep it from sliding around which is definitely a nice touch. As for the RGB, I liked that there is a fast effect when the drives are in use indicating they are being accessed. When the drives are asleep, the RGB pattern switches to a slower breathing effect which I think is very cool. Usually SATA docking stations don’t look like they belong on a nice desk, this one definitely does. I’ve been using this review unit for about 2 weeks now. I got the chance to do a larger 2 terabyte file transfer onto a drive in the docking station, I’m glad to report there were no dropout issues and the docking station was barely warm to the touch. If you’re a gamer who’s looking for a hard drive docking station or even a PC repair tech who needs a docking station, this is quite a nice product, I would definitely recommend it. 🔥 Cool Stuff on Amazon: https://amzn.to/3B6Gqru 🔥🔥 Looking for parts?
