Maxing My 15 Year Old RuneScape Account

After nearly 15 years of periodically checking in on RuneScape, I've finally maxed (every skill to 99) my old account I made back in 2006, and felt like telling the story. Starting in those early old school free to play days through 2007 & 8, letting it slide for many years, then returning as a member at last to rediscover the massive historic world and how it had changed in my absence. With how much I talk about grind and completionism, it should come as no surprise that I was once drawn to this nostalgic MMORPG. I'll go on to talk a bit about OSRS, and some other positively biased thoughts on the game. This may not exactly be on topic for the channel, but I'm glad I got to make it regardless as an homage to such an impactful formative game of my and so many people's childhoods. EDIT a couple years later: since I see people sometimes thinking I might still be playing, I'm proud to say I've freed myself of the addictive curse; I think this project acted as a perfect end point for the journey. After this, I gradually realized I was no longer progressing towards anything I cared about, since I don't enjoy the unresponsive combat or high-end action bar ability gameplay side of the game, and the monetization strategies certainly don't make me proud to be a part of it, so it had become purely meaningless number-go-up syndrome. I now haven't played since that membership ran out, and don't see myself ever having long-term membership like that year again - thinking about efficiency and dailies did become far too life consuming. So, since I recall being pretty positive when I made this, I should add the obvious warning to anyone sucked into these games: make sure you're progressing towards something you truly find fun, and not just out of some kind of habit or obligation. It was a good ride, glad to now live free of the xp.
