TP-Link Kasa is my solid mid-range pick because it can run standalone on Wi‑Fi or level up to Zigbee with the Kasa Hub. Setup was intuitive, and I really like the energy usage dashboard for tracking power. Once I switched to Zigbee, responses felt near instant and automations with IFTTT and SmartThings were easy.
