Located along California’s central coast, Oceano dunes, also known as Pacific dunes and Pismo beach sand dunes, is a recreational haven for off-roading enthusiasts. It’s also a great place for surfing, wind sports, horseback riding, biking (in our case riding our scooters) as well exploring the natural preserve of the dunes, which is particularly special at sunset. This is also the only place in California where you can actually drive and camp on the beach, however it looks like this will be coming to an end as civic leaders are phasing vehicle beach access out by 2026, so you still have a few years to try out this unique experience at Oceano dunes. Pismo Beach is a classic California beach town, located on the famous central coast, halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles along Pacific Coast and Highway 101. There are long white beaches for taking a stroll, or for just enjoying the spectacular views of a Pismo Beach sunset. There are lots of things to do at and near Oceano Beach and Pacific Dunes, from golfing, horseback riding, riding the dunes in a four-wheel ATV, surfing,, body boarding and even fishing can be part of a Pismo Beach excursion.
