Its height to the top of the outer rim is 3.5”and the LiDAR puck on top increases the total height to about 4.25”. There are three physical buttons on top of the robot. The dock button, which is also used for power, dry clean on the left, and wet clean on the right; then in front of those are the status LEDs for errors, low battery, and WiFi. The robot has smart sensors, drop sensors, proximity detectors, a bumper, and a LiDAR puck to help it determine its location, map your space, detect obstacles, and even identify carpeted areas. It has a combination dust and water tank, the former which is self-emptying and the latter self-filling. The base station will also clean the mop pads by rinsing and scrubbing it at the end of every mopping sessions. Both the robot and base station are equipped with multiple air and HEPA filters to ensure that all dust and debris are trapped in the closed system and not spewed back into the air. Shark has even taken advantage of this air flow by integrating an ""odor elimination"" cartridge into the exhaust; basically an air fresheners that allows you to adjust how much scent is dispensed each time the robot's onboard dust bin is emptied. The larger bagless bin in the base can hold up to 60 days woirth of debris. There are two water tanks for clean and dirty water and clear windows allow you to monitor their levels at a glance. To use all of the robot’s smart features, you’ll need to login the SharkClean mobile app. In the app, the robot will create an editable map of all the areas it has access to, including carpeted areas that it should avoid, though you can add your own no-go areas as well. When running a cleaning mission, you can select vacuum, mop, or vacuum and mop. Use of Shark's cleaning solution is optional for mopping. The mop pad actually moves side-to-side and leaves behind a light trail of dampness which typically dries after a few minutes at room temperature, though you can also opt to use less water using the Eco setting. The SharkClean app tracks and records the robot’s location on the map, so you’ll see exactly where it cleaned after each mission. You can also view where the robot is in real-time during cleaning, or tap ‘Find Robot’ in the app. For the most part, the robot was able to sense and avoid obstacles like furniture and walls and maneuver around them without making contact. However, with tall thin objects like chair legs, it tended to make light contact with them before changing direction. For trip hazards, it uses its NeverStuck pop-up feature to dislodge itself and it’s never gotten stuck anywhere in my home. The auto-emptying feature can be pretty loud and won’t always completely clear the robot’s dust bin. The Stratos was able to complete a vac and mop mission of my entire space, about 300 ft², in 40 minutes which consumed 30% battery life and about 1/6th of the clean water tank. Since the dirty tank only fills up about an inch per run, I can perform several mopping sessions before I need to empty it, but I wouldn’t wait more than several days to avoid any issues with mold, bacteria, or mildew buildup. After wet sessions, the station it will also rinse and dry the mop pad, though the drier isn't heated so it takes a long time to complete. I recommend setting the dry time to the maximum of 8 hours for best results or removing the pad to hang dry and emptying both tanks between uses. When using the robot over carpeted areas for dry cleaning only, the mop pad plate had to be removed. For carpet cleaning, it doesn’t use its side brush, and it struggled a bit with lightweight area rugs that aren’t firmly fixed to the floor. The center roller brush also caused it to occasionally hop over carpeting and once it got stuck because one of the wheels slipped over a drop off. Despite not digging very deep into the carpet pile, the robot did pickup a ton of dust and debris in just 30 minutes. Overall, I think this robot does a great job of cleaning my floors both when vacuuming and mopping. I like that I can schedule the cleanings to run automatically up to twice a day, and you can even use voice commands with Google or Amazon’s voice assistants to control it. The robot empties its own dustbin and rinses out the mop pad automatically making it largely handsfree hence the moniker Nevertouch. Though you will have to do longer term maintenance like emptying out the main dust bin, rinsing the air filters, and scrubbing out the water tray.
