Del Norte Coast Redwoods State Park, tucked along the stunning northern California coastline, is one of the least visited but most enchanting sections of the Redwood National and State Parks system. It’s home to some of the tallest and oldest trees on Earth, with the famous redwoods here often exceeding 300 feet in height. A hidden gem in this park is the pristine, untouched Mill Creek, which flows through the forest and adds a serene touch to the landscape. The park’s trails are relatively uncrowded, offering a more intimate experience with nature. One of the park’s unique features is the presence of "turtleback" rock formations, smooth, rounded boulders that dot the forest floor and provide habitat for various species of moss and ferns. The park is also home to several rare species, including the northern spotted owl and the marbled murrelet, making it a prime location for birdwatching.
