ANALYSIS The memory specs for Sony's next generation Playstation 6 Orion and Handheld Canis have leaked, and Sony are making big changes. The Playstation 6 features a clamshell design, with 30GB of next generation GDDR7 memory, but with only 160bit bus, and memory bandwidth of 640GB/s. This is a much narrower bus compared to that of the PS5 or PS4, but also the memory bandwidth isn't much faster despite the memory running at very fast 32GBps. This is because RDNA 5 has much improved data compression compared to say, the Playstation 5's RDNA 2 architecture. Additionally, the PS6 will feature a much more advanced cache architecture, allowing for data to be more efficiently leveraged by the GPU. So far, the Playstation 6 seems to be built around AMD's Zen 6 CPU architecture and RDNA 5 GPU.
