Meanwhile, AMD's zen 6 based Ryzen processors should see their own bump in multi threading, with the switch to the 2nm process from TSMC and 12 cores per CCD (24 cores / 48 threads total). This combines with signfiicant improvements in IO, memory bandwidth and other uarch improvements to have Ryzen's next generation parts see significant performance benefits over Zen 5. Medusa Desktop seems to launch 2H 2026, putting Zen 6 squarely against Nova Lake which launches in the same time period. AMD's Ryzen mobile parts however will not see a launch according to what I'm told until Q1 2027. AMD will stick to AM5 for zen 6, with Zen 7 onwards likely being the launch of AM6. Both Intel and AMD apparently are targeting DDR5 8000MTS memory too; meaning decent improvements in bandwidth. But if Intel really does have all these cores for Nova Lake, it will be very interesting for them to actually 'feed' all those cores.
