8GB GPUs Dead, AMD & Nvidia LISTENED?! Next Gen Specs Analysis One thing we've seen this gen is the outright rejection of 8GB GPUs by PC gamers for both Nvidia's RTX 5060Ti and even AMD's RX 9060XT class cards, and for good reasons. And it seems that both Nvidia and AMD have CAVED as they seem to be chucking the 8GB memory cards right where they belong - in the bin. This is according to a recent report from Board Channels, which stats that both AMD and Nvidia will be focusing on the 16GB versions of their current generation cards (RTX 50 and RX 9000) and of course, the upcoming RTX 50 Super Refresh. But for the next generation of cards Rubin-based GeForce RTX 60 and RDNA 5 series, both Nvidia and AMD has the opportunity to increase memory thanks to GDDR7 3GB modules, and in some cases (ie APUs) also LPDDR6 too. This comes as 8GB GPUs have shown VERY low sales figures - particularly for GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 8GB and AMD's RX 9060XT 8GB.
