About This Video

In this video I take you from fabric to oil paint—starting with a hand-sewn outfit and ending with a self portrait of me wearing it. I share why I wanted to make this image in the first place: not just to document a finished garment, but to slow down and really sit with what it feels like to inhabit something I made. Sewing the outfit was one part of the project, but painting myself in it became a way to notice the silhouette, the drape, and the story of the pieces in a totally different (and honestly more patient) way. I also talk through my process—how I approached translating a real outfit into a painted one, what I paid attention to, and what surprised me as I went. This is very much a “creative reset” kind of project, and I share a book that’s been shaping how I’m thinking about making lately. If you’re into slow fashion, wardrobe building, and finding new ways to connect with your handmade clothes beyond just the final reveal, this one is for you.
