The Brightin Star 50mm f/0.95 Mark II is a character lens: wide open it’s soft and dreamy, and that’s the whole point. Stop it down to f/1.4 and it gets surprisingly solid, and by f/2 to f/2.8 it turns into a genuinely sharp, usable 50mm prime with way better overall performance.
Pros
+Dreamy rendering and strong subject separation at f/0.95
+Gets much sharper and more practical at f/1.4 and beyond
+All-metal build with metal mount and retractable metal hood
+Nice bokeh with 10 aperture blades
Cons
-Soft and messy wide open (center and corners)
-Focus ring is too smooth and easy to bump
-Longitudinal chromatic aberration (green/purple fringing), especially wide open
