About This Video

You’d think feeding fresh dog food would automatically be the healthiest, safest option… but unfortunately, you’d be wrong. In this video, I break down why the gently cooked/fresh category is exploding in popularity while quality is getting questionable, and I share the 5 red flags I personally avoid when I’m picking food for my five dogs. I walk you through real bowls I’m making for Finn, Wall‑E, Bentley (almost 16!), Marlo, and Aura—because this stuff has to work in real life, not just on a label. I talk about ingredient red flags like relying too heavily on fillers (potatoes, soy, corn, rice, wheat) and sneaky ingredient splitting (potato + sweet potato + potato starch + potato flour) that can make a food look better than it is. I also explain why “natural flavors” can be a problem if your dog has sensitivities, and why I check guaranteed analysis—especially protein—because a lot of fresh foods I’m seeing are lower than what I’d want (I look for at least 8–9% on fresh/gently cooked). Finally, I get into the human‑grade vs feed‑grade conversation and why I’m willing to invest in human‑grade, third‑party tested options like Open Farm, plus how I use variety and simple toppers (sardines, blueberries, scrambled egg) for enrichment and nutrient coverage.
